Description: |
Tillandsia usneoides are commonly known as Tree
Hair, Old Man’s Beard, Kali’s Hair, Spanish Beard or Spanish Moss is an epiphyte (air plants)
which has aerial roots exposed to the atmosphere. The beard-like silvery-grey leaves absorb
water from the air often grows in large masses, cascading downward from the
holder / hanger. |

Light: |
Prefer bright indirect sunlight and good air circulation. Choose
a location that is exposed to morning sun or evening sun on a tree or tall
shrub, behind windowsill. |
Water: |
Use purified, distilled or rainwater to water the plants. Spray the Spanish moss with water regularly or give a good soak when they become fully dry. |
Fertilizer: |
Fertilize
with diluted liquid fertilizer at least once a month to encourage growth. |
Trimming: |
Gently trim away dry, brown, or yellowish leaves by using a pair
of secateurs. Trimming allows available nutrients in the soil to be
transferred into the new leaves which encourage intentional growth. |
