Description: |
Jujube, also known as Daun Bidara in Malay is belongs to the
angiosperm Rhamnaceae family. This family consists of 135–170 species of
Zizyphus. As a tropical and subtropical plant, jujube is a vigorous grower
and has a rapidly-developing taproot. Jujube have drooping branches, zigzag branchlets, and produce
short, sharp spines. It is one of the medicinal plants packed with nutritional value,
a good source of vitamin A, C, B vitamins, minerals including iron, phosphorus,
and calcium, and healthful fatty acids. The plants produce an edible fruit where Muslims used the seeds
as rosaries. |
